Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY ELEANOR BRANDER HOBBS 1924-2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom and grandma, Audrey Hobbs, at the age of 86. On November 10, 2010 at St. Anthony's hospital in The Pas after a courageous battle with cancer, God called her home. Audrey leaves to mourn her three sons, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters. Audrey was born in Grand Rapids, Manitoba on June 16, 1924. She was the youngest of four children. Audrey enjoyed a strong Christian upbringing where she found comfort and strength through God's love. She preached to her family to always have faith no matter what happened and that God would carry you throughout life's journey. In 1951 Audrey met the love of her life, Gilbert Hobbs, and they enjoyed 54 years together. Audrey lived her life in Grand Rapids enjoying a prosperous life in private enterprises with her husband and family. The job she loved more than anything else was being a Grandma. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. There was nothing that put a smile to her face faster than having her grandkids phone or even better, show up at her door for a visit. This was never as apparent as near the end, for when she was unable to speak, just the mere mention of their names brought a smile of pure love to her face. Audrey had many hobbies; including knitting, crochet, and embroidery. Her favorite pastime was leather beadwork, for which she won numerous awards. She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by numerous family and friends. God looked around his garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered Peace be thine. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. In lieu of flowers family and friends may make a donation in Audrey's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of their choice.
